The Messerschmitt Me 163A was the world’s first mass-produced rocket-powered aircraft. The production aircraft were used for testing and pilots training for the Me 163B combat version. On 2 October 1941, Heini Dittmar became the first person in the world to exceed the speed of 1,000 km/h (623.67 mph) in the cockpit of a Me 163A V-1. The rocket-powered Komet took off from a two-wheeled, jettisonable cart and landed on a ski placed under the fuselage.
The model includes a sprue with Me 163A parts, an injection-molded clear canopy, resin interior parts and a fret of etches. Decals are available for three Me 163A aircraft.
